WELCOME

The Roman poet Horace is attributed with saying that a picture is a poem without words. Well, that's what we like to think too, although some words will be allowed (what's a card without the occasional sentiment). Welcome to the Without Words Challenge where we want you to create clean and simple cards, focusing on the image without the distractions of too many embellishments. We hope you enjoy this challenge as much as we do!

December: Feeling Festive (The Final Challenge)

Hello Worders, hope this finds you well, and not in too much of a panic for what's coming!

Well, regular entrants will probably know by now that this is our final challenge, ever, as Without Words is closing it's doors at the end of December (we will of course announce the December winner shortly into January) and there will be no more challenges after this one.

So, we would like you to help us go out with style and celebrate what has been a super three years of colouring CAS fun - our theme is FEELING FESTIVE
Lots of lovely Christmas themed entries please!

The Word Birds - you know, those amazing ladies who have brought you breathtaking inspiration month after month, have made their final pieces with heavy hearts, but honestly, they have excelled themselves (if it is possible to excel more than they usually do).

Please, take a moment to say a HUGE thank you to the BEST design team on the planet!

November: Winter Birthday

Hello chaps, and welcome to November - hope you weren't all scared witless at the weekend with the Halloween events!

This month we are looking for your WINTER BIRTHDAY makes.

I always feel that people who have birthdays in November and December get overlooked somewhat so we would like you to rectify that this time.

This challenge is being sponsored by the delightful Stephanie and Jenny at CLEARLY BESOTTED
(if you've not shopped there yet, what's wrong with you?!)

So, how have the Word Birds been celebrating birthdays?  Let's have a look shall we

You can't tell me that these wouldn't make someone's birthday happier!

A couple of things before we go, firstly the winners from October

and our gorgeous Top 3 selection are

Secondly, and sadly, after a lot of soul searching and hard thinking, the decision has been made to close this challenge at the end of the year.  There will be one final challenge in December which we hope you will join us for so we can go out in style.

I started this challenge over three years ago because I wanted to improve my colouring skills and encourage others to do the same.  I have been blessed to have THE best Design Team on board, these ladies are the ultimate in talent, and I am humbled that they have all been so willing to work with me and dedicate their time to this challenge, thank you girls, although thank you will never be enough.

However, all good things come to an end, and unfortunately, even after all this time, entry numbers have never been particularly high and not everyone has followed our simple rules.  The craft retail market has taken a downturn which has made it quite difficult to secure sponsors for next year and we all know that you like a challenge with a reward.  So, all in all, it was time to call it quits.

It has been a blast though, and we have absolutely delighted in seeing your amazing makes every month, there are some that stick in the memory, even from right back from challenge one, as being so brilliant, you have risen to every occasion and we certainly couldn't have done it without you.

Lastly, I want to take the opportunity of thanking our loyal sponsors who have been with us year after year, you have all been an absolute joy to work with and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

So, there we go crafters, November is Winter Birthday month
and we want you back again for December for our final challenge.

Love to you all
Squirrel & The Word Birds xx

SEPTEMBER: For The Boys

Happy Monday!  Yes, we are a wee bit behind because of the way the calender fell but it is the first Monday of September and that means another new challenge for you at Without Words!

You lot obviously don't get your five-a-day of fruit and veg!  We were low on numbers in August but a HUGE thanks to those who did enter, really high standard of entries, which will make the choices even more difficult.

I have a feeling that this month's theme will have you all running for the hills.  When you get there, can you send the Word Birds back to me please?

FOR THE BOYS

Yes, we want your makes for that difficult species, the men (or boys)
